- With the highest load capacity in its segment, these machines will be used to handle the large offshore wind towers manufactured by a company within the Daniel Alonso Group.
- The maritime traffic generated by this activity is already one of the most significant and promising in the Avilés region.
- GAM is positioning itself at the forefront of service to leading wind turbine manufacturers by adding these innovative machines to its fleet.
- The investment in these two machines represents approximately 5% of GAM's machinery investment in 2015, which totaled 23 million euros.

GAM, the Spanish multinational specializing in global machinery services, has delivered two innovative "Reach Stackers" to Tadarsa Logistics, a company within the Daniel Alonso Group. These machines are designed for loading, unloading, and short-distance transportation of large components. They stand out for their flexibility, optimal performance, and storage capacity compared to traditional forklifts.
Manufactured by Kalmar, a leading Swedish company in global cargo handling solutions and port services, these new machines supplied by GAM are the first in the world with a load capacity of 130 tons. Instead of the traditional “spreader” – a clamp that hooks onto containers from the top – these machines use a “rotating hook” specifically designed for handling pipes, making them revolutionary in this area. They are also equipped with the latest technology in cabin mobility and display systems, providing operators with a complete panoramic view during operation.
Their large load capacity significantly increases efficiency and safety in the handling of offshore wind towers manufactured by Tadarsa in Avilés. Where two machines were previously needed for each operation, one is now sufficient with these new units.
GAM is further enhancing its services to the industry, particularly to wind turbine manufacturers, a sector in which it has extensive experience. GAM provides a wide range of complementary equipment, such as platforms, heavy-duty forklifts, and other handling machinery.
The cost of these two machines represents around 5% of GAM's machinery investment in 2015, which totaled 23 million euros.
The service provided by GAM includes the maintenance of these machines, which are sure to attract attention at the Port of Avilés due to their unique features.
It is worth noting that the manufacturing of wind towers has become one of the most important and innovative activities at the Port of Avilés, and is one of the most forward-looking sectors in Asturias' metal industry.
