- Reviver is a disruptive project that will transform how we understand the purchase and consumption of machinery. It will extend the useful life cycle of machines through remanufacturing and the generation of spare parts.
- Villacé, a small town in the province of León, will host this new plant, which will also result in significant job creation for an area heavily affected by depopulation.
Villacé (León), December 13, 2023.- GAM, a listed Spanish multinational company (BME: GAM) offering comprehensive solutions and services for the industry, has launched Reviver, a machinery remanufacturing plant that will introduce the circular economy model into the sector.
Currently, in just one year in Spain, 4,000 forklifts (which represent a small part of industrial machinery) reach the end of their life cycle. Given this paradigm, the purpose of Reviver is to shift the current traditional linear system, based on raw material extraction, manufacturing, and the life cycle of industrial machinery with waste accumulation, to a conscious and responsible business model focused on sustainability and efficiency.
Reviver was created with this goal. It is a disruptive project that will transform how we understand the purchase and consumption of machinery and help clients and suppliers meet their sustainability commitments.
With its launch, Reviver will create a positive environmental impact. On one hand, it will extend the useful life cycle of machines through remanufacturing and the generation of spare parts, making it possible to give equipment a second life. On the other hand, it will also help reduce the production of new machinery.
Reviver is the largest machinery remanufacturing plant in Europe, covering an area of 200,000 m2. The projection is to reintroduce about 3,000 machines to the market annually, both nationally and across Europe, which will save 9,000 tons of CO2 – the equivalent of the production of 7,500 cars.
Reviver, an opportunity for the emptied Spain and employability
The machinery remanufacturing plant, Reviver, is located in Villacé (a small town in the province of León). Specifically, in a former ceramic factory that ceased operations in 2016.
For its construction, GAM has relied on sustainability principles, using recycled materials. This not only helps avoid the construction of new facilities but also contributes to the recovery of this place and its immediate surroundings, generating a positive impact on the area's biodiversity.
The launch of Reviver will create jobs in an area heavily affected by depopulation. It is estimated to employ more than 150 people when fully operational. In addition to promoting local employment, Reviver has reached an agreement with Soltra to allocate a percentage of the generated jobs to people with diverse abilities.
GAM leads sustainability in the industrial sector
As one of the main players in the machinery sector, GAM has been working on sustainability for years, analyzing how to make changes that truly have a significant impact on society. Within its strategic sustainability plan, ‘Embracing Sustainability’, the multinational integrates sustainability across the entire business and ensures that it is continuously promoted and improved.
This plan includes the launch of Reviver, staying true to the company's commitment to create a positive impact on the environment and the communities in which it operates.
