GAM signs a framework agreement with ACCIONA Energía for drone services
  • Aerón by GAM, the engineering and drone services division of the Spanish multinational, will carry out specialized work for the renewable energy company over the next 12 months.

  • The services range from structural inspections to mapping work, as well as the subsequent processing and analysis of the data obtained using advanced technologies.

The Spanish multinational GAM (General de Maquinaria de Alquiler, BME: GALQ), through Aerón, its business line specialized in providing drone services (RPAS*), will be responsible for executing drone technology projects at the facilities managed by Acciona's energy division.

The agreement includes various types of services, covering data collection with different sensors: multispectral, thermographic, and photogrammetric; video recording, photogrammetry-based mapping, and LIDAR system work, as well as subsequent processing and issuance of certified technical reports.

Aerón's proven experience in energy and industrial companies was another important factor in the awarding of the contract.

Different types of drones will be used to carry out the work: multirotors, fixed-wing, and those specific for confined spaces, ensuring redundancy in both aircraft and sensors.

Aerón is GAM's business line specialized in drones (RPAS). Our goal is to provide a turnkey solution to the client. Drones are just one part of the service, a tool that gives us greater accessibility, precision, and safety in data collection. The sensor captures the type of data that addresses the client's needs, but the key lies in knowing how to classify, analyze, and interpret the data captured by the drones. Our experience in different types of projects allows us to provide added value in the solutions we offer our clients,” explains Jorge Arias, technical director of Aerón by GAM.

The opportunities for using drones in the industrial sector are enormous, as they are in agriculture, forestry, or inspections in confined or hard-to-reach spaces, to name a few examples.”

Acciona thus joins the portfolio of energy and industrial sector clients who already trust Aerón. This engineering and drone services division of GAM represents a step further in the provision of value-added services that the company offers.
