GAM and Bosquia create the GAM Forest to reduce 205 tons of CO2 emissions

The planting, which reaffirms the company's commitment to the environment and sustainability, will take place before the end of the year

GAM has just signed an agreement with the Asturian company Bosquia to create the GAM Forest, which will involve the planting of about 500 trees in Candamo, in the Principality of Asturias. This area was particularly affected by the severe fires that broke out in the summer of 2017 in Galicia and Asturias. The initiative will result in a reduction of 205 tons of CO2 emissions and will restore a degraded area, helping to rebuild its ecosystem.

The planting, which will take place before the end of the year, represents another step in GAM's strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, and it joins companies such as Coca-Cola, Mattel, Liberbank, and Bosch, which are already involved in the reforestation of various areas. The signing ceremony was attended by José L. Roza, Director of People and Culture at GAM, and Francisco del Cid, CEO and founder of Bosquia. This agreement is renewable annually and can be extended to other Bosquia action areas, both in different regions of Spain and in Portugal or Latin America, where GAM also operates.

Since it started its activities in 2018, Bosquia has planted nearly 100,000 trees in Spain (about 63 hectares), compensating for more than 26,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

In the first planting of the future GAM Forest, GAM employees and their families will participate, getting involved in this activity firsthand. The area will be reforested with a selection of native species based on a prior forestry study, including, for example, privet, Mediterranean buckthorn, holm oak, hawthorn, chestnut, strawberry tree, and oak. Bosquia will ensure their rooting by maintaining optimal growth conditions.
